Greeley Central Counselor Named Colorado High School Counselor of the Year

Counselor of the Year Claudia Koesler 2025

Claudia Koesler, a counselor at Greeley Central High School, has been named the Colorado High School Counselor of the Year by the Colorado School Counselor Association.

Koesler and the staff at Greeley Central were surprised early Monday morning by the announcement, made by Anna Gisetti, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Colorado School Counselor Association.

A graduate of Greeley Central High School herself, Koesler has worked in District 6 for the past 9 years. In her nomination, colleagues praised Koesler as a passionate advocate for the counseling profession, someone who works tirelessly to elevate the role of counselors in education while ensuring every student has the support they need to succeed.

“I feel like I was born to do this, to help inspire our kids in Greeley,” Koesler said.

The Colorado School Counselor Association (CSCA), the state division of the American School Counselor Association, represents more than 1,600 counselors across Colorado. Winners of the CSCA School Counselor of the Year Award are also nominated for the national American School Counselor Association (ASCA) School Counselor of the Year Award.

“We are so proud of Claudia and the work she does every day to ensure students reach their goals, graduate on time and have the support they need to be successful,” said Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Pilch. “All District 6 counselors play an essential role in the wellbeing and success of our students.”
