Caring For Our Watersheds - COLORADO has asked high schools students to submit an essay proposal that answers the question, “What can you do to improve your watershed?” Either individually or as a team they researched the Poudre or the Big Thompson watersheds, identifying an environmental concern and came up with a realistic solution. Students are competing for over $3,000 cash rewards and participating schools are eligible for $8,000 cash rewards. Agrium also has funding available to help implement-winning ideas.
Over 240 students from Greeley, Ft. Collins and Loveland high schools participated in the project and were judged on content and language arts. Ten finalists (projects) were selected. Greeley Central High School would like to congratulate the following AP Environmental Science and AP Biology students whose projects were selected as finalists:
Morgan Hubbard, Ellen Hunter, and Hailey Richardson (Project: Watershed Cleanup and Awareness Day)
Tori Billings and Michael Masi (Project: Informing the Public of Proper Pharmaceutical Disposal)
Megan Skees, Allie Young, and Colin Jorgensen (Project: Aerated Water Fixtures Awareness Campaign)
They will now present their projects to the Caring For Our Watersheds panel of judges at 3:00 on April 2nd at the UNC University Center. The presentations are free and open to the public. After the judging the finalists and their parents are invited to join the judges and invited community members for dinner where award checks to the students and their schools will be distributed.
CSAP IS HERE!
It is that time of year again. On March 9th we will begin our CSAP testing for the 2009-2010 school year.
The Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) is Colorado’s large-scale standardized achievement test. The purpose of the CSAP is to provide an annual measure of student performance relative to the Colorado Model Content Standards. It is a timed, standardized assessment and is administered under standardized conditions to ensure the reliability and validity of results. Please encourage your son/daughter to do their very best on this import assessment as it provides us with a snapshot of how our students are progressing on the state standards. Any questions contact, David Meyer in the main office. 348-5000.

In honor of the 7th annual National Athletic Training Month, Greeley Central High School would like to recognize North Colorado Sports Medicine and their continuing efforts to provide our school with quality certified athletic trainers. Greeley Central High School is happy to have on staff certified athletic trainer Markee Swank, whose efforts were recently recognized as our school was named runner-up for the Outstanding High School Athletic Training Program Award, sponsored by the Denver Nuggets. Look for Markee at the game on Saturday, March 20th as she accepts this award.
